It’s getting hot out there, y’all! Summer weather is definitely here.
And summer is one of my favorite times of the year... it’s full of sunshine, vacations, cookouts, and my birthday :) But, due to the intense heat (especially here in the South), it is SO important to stay hydrated during this time!
WHY HYDRATION IS SO IMPORTANT
DYK that our bodies are over 60% water!? They need water to function. Here is a brief list of the functions and benefits of being well-hydrated:
Sounds great, right? But staying well-hydrated sounds easier said than done. Here are 3 super simple tips to help you stay hydrated this summer.
3 SIMPLE TIPS FOR STAYING HYDRATED
(1) GET A REUSABLE BOTTLE THAT YOU LOVE. Here is a picture of the water bottle that I personally use. It was actually a Christmas present from my brother! (My family knows me too well.) What I like about this S'well bottle is that it keeps water super cold and is slim to hold. When shopping for a good water bottle, find one that you'll actually use and fits YOUR lifestyle. There are so many options out there - various colors and designs, flip-tops, caps/lids vs. straws, the material may matter to you (plastic, aluminum, glass, etc.) and of course they come in many sizes.
(2) TAKE IT WITH YOU. Below is a glimpse into my travel snack bag. My water bottle is always with me - whether I'm traveling out of town, running errands during the day, or heading to the office. By taking my hydration with me, this helps guarantee that I drink my fluids throughout the day. If it's not with me, then I can't drink it :( Also, no matter where I am, there is almost always a way to refill my bottle!
(3) FLAVOR IT UP. Instead of buying high-sugar sodas or pricey flavored waters, flavor your own water with fresh fruits and herbs, such as rosemary, mint or basil. This is a great place to get creative and try different combinations and ideas!

Allow yourself to be creative and have fun with your flavor combinations guys! At the end of the day. it's important to find simple ways that will help you drink more for optimal hydration in the warmer months.
